"Embrace the Suck"

"Embrace the Suck"

My initial mantra to this weekend’s long run was – the less said about it, the better.  And then I realized that I was missing out a valuable learning opportunity. While runs like these are dreaded, they are the ones that give a runner a list of what-not-to-do, and how-to-make-things-better. So what went wrong? Well. Rather hard to say. Because it just never fight right from Mile 1.  I was having trouble keeping up, which was rather strange because I’m…

Favorite Moments of the Tour De France 2012

Favorite Moments of the Tour De France 2012

I’ve been fascinated by the Tour De France this year, my first year of following the event. The past 3 weeks have been an amazing display of power, but of also other little nifty things that has me hooked.  I’ve tried to compile some pictures/moments of my favorite memories of the event. The first day I watched the Tour (Stage 3), without an understanding of the rules, the etiquettes, the teams, the sprinters, the climbers, the team leaders, etc etc;…

The Weekender Edition – 7/22

The Weekender Edition – 7/22

The weekend started at 4:30am – to drive 45min for a 12 mile run. Yes, utterly insane, but completely understandable given how much I like socializing with my running group. On brutal hills and humidity, I was the sweeper of the group trying to make sure that the last few people made it fine (I didn’t have to do it, but  … that’s a new post coming up altogether). The 10 people who “liked” my post – all runners who…

Messing up a Pub Order

Messing up a Pub Order

Who goes to a pub and asks for chocolate milk (which I’m surprised they even had in the first place!)? A runner who has just finished a good session of intervals and doesn’t drink beer a.k.a The FauxRunner. That’s who. Ironically – the fastest runner in our group, and the slowest runner, me, asked for chocolate milk instead of beer. Wish sharing a common recovery fuel made me atleast half as fast as him! What is your favorite recovery drink?…

Another 26.2 Sell Out!

Another 26.2 Sell Out!

Big Sur Marathon sold out within 26 hours! That is insanely fast for a race that is slightly more ‘tough’ (In My Opinion, at least) because of elevation gains, even though it is gorgeous! The marathon is on my bucket list, but (un)fortunately not for the next few years. This is one race I’d like to do with my husband. Is it weird that I think that there is nothing more romantic than running for 26.2 miles in breathtaking scenery,…

Start them Young!

Start them Young!

We ambushed met Daddy after his 8 mile run at the Chattahoochee River Trails and dragged him along with another mile.  The girls ran, sweated, laughed, fell down(!), whined, walked, complained, ran some more, all the while sipping on “juice water” aka water added with Nuun Hydration Tablets. We must’ve met atleast 5 people who declared that my older girl’s running skirt was the prettiest on the trail 🙂 They also biked some, but that was a collosal failure and a…

Armadillos and Watermelons

Armadillos and Watermelons

It is amazing how much you can look forward to a long run with excitement and nervousness. The run today didn’t disappoint.  I laughed and joked the first 5 miles with my group doing 2:1 intervals. Even had the energy and enthusiasm to double back and check on one of the group. Took off after that with 3:1 intervals until mile 7, and then ran straight out including almost all of 2 miles of Mt. Nickajack. And maintained a good…
