Pinspiration Friday – Focus on Yourself

Pinspiration Friday – Focus on Yourself

Every Friday, I scout around that wonderful place Pinterest (which I refer to fondly as Facebook on crack!) for motivation and inspiration to share.

This week, this pin popped up on my ‘timeline’ without me having to dig in at all. As I read this, I started thinking about how much we tend to think about the people around us, the influences, the one we are influenced by, the chaos, the environment, so many factors that we cannot control.

Instead of trying to fit in, instead of trying to force my way into the world order, I am going to make a conscious effort to think focus on myself. What can I do to make myself a better person, a better runner, a better athlete, a better wife, a better mother, a better friend? Once I shift the focus to myself, my abilities and what I can control, I am sure that I will find myself in my proper place in the rightful order of the world.

lol. It is so easy to get sucked into both. Except Pinterest is 1000000 times worse because you think that everything is useful. lol.

I think this is really important in workouts especially. If I think about the 1001 things I have to do when I get home or I let my mind wander onto an article that I have to write or a project that is in the works, then I let down the focus on what I am trying to accomplish.

      I agree.
I am yet to figure out how to get the focus back when my mind goes wandering.

  • I need to frame this one. I am the worst about comparing myself to other runners. Jealous that they are faster than I, I try to reign it in, but sometimes my desire to run like others gets the best of me.
