4year Runniversary Giveway

4year Runniversary Giveway

On Christmas Ev, 4 years ago, I took my first running steps out of fear that I would not be able to complete my first race – a half marathon 12 weeks away. At the same time, I started this blog to document my thoughts. Never did I think that those first steps would stay with me and carry me to 4 years. Running and me have had our ups and downs, but after the first year, it has been more of ups than downs. My “I hate running” posts have turned into “I love running” and have also gone a step ahead into “I might want to try this triathlon thing a bit”.

So to celebrate my runniversary and in the spirit of Christmas, I am giving away some of my favorite things. These are not sponsored by any of the companies, but is a gift from me to the amazing running community for supporting me and encouraging me every step of the way.

  • Congratulations on your Runniversary! What a wonderful giveaway! I started running again after a decade away from it (kids!) to rediscover myself as an athlete instead of just as a mom, wife and professional. I signed up for PHM 2013 and in the process lost 60lbs and found my inner athlete again!

I started running shortly after my 40th birthday. My husband took me to the ocean, and while on a hike in the redwood forest I realized I was out of breath climbing the smallest of small hills…AT SEA LEVEL! I knew that I needed to pull out of being in the worst shape of my life. Now, I can’t imagine life without running! Congrats on your runniversary!

  • Edith

  • Shaina

You are so inspiring! I started running again when I joined a morning boot camp a few years ago. It was my favorite part of the boot camp so I stuck with it!

Smitha, it has been a pleasure to meet. I hope to see you at many races in 2014.

  • Jennifer

My running journey started when a friend of mine asked me to do a thanksgiving run with her in 2009. I trained hard for it. I started just one block at a time. Well since then I have done numerous 5k’s and will be completing my 12th half marathon in February and my first full in June.

  • Amie Pirkle

A friend talked me into running the Peachtree Road Race in 2005.

  • Naomi

Congrats! I ran track/cross country in high school then took a break for 5yrs till I joined the military. Ive been out now since ’03 and picked up running again when I was going through my seperation/divorce. Im more of a walk/jogger now but love when I can get out on the trails…especially if I have company.

I started running to play tennis and soccer in high school. But, when I went to college I realized I love just running. So now it’s about 17 years later at 31 and still run consistently. I’ve completed 2 half marathons and countless 5ks. But I’ve never worn a running skirt and really want one!!

  • Michelle

On May 20th 2011, on my Wedding Anniversary, I signed me and my hubby up for the Wine and Dine half marathon in October of 2011. We started running the very next day:)
We needed to find something active thst we could enjoy together. He has always been fit but I needed to get healthy!! I have been addicted to running ever since. I run most Disney races and LOVE SPARKLE!!!!!

  • Becky

So generous of you! My running journey started as a walking journey, actually. I had my 3rd child (& last) in May of 2009. I have always been overweight & three pregnancies didn’t help. By October 2009, I was looking for a change. I read about people walking a marathon & I decided I would do it. So, right then I started a marathon-walking training program. The more I walked & walked & walked, the more I thought about running. I started throwing a few bits of jogging/running into the mix (having never, EVER been a runner). I still remember the first time I tried – ran down a hill & it felt so uncomfortable, my body bouncing all over the place. Eventually I added more running. My friend & I walked the marathon in May of 2010. I haven’t stopped since. I’m still super slow & more of a run/walk-er, but I continue to improve!

  • I started running the first time because I wanted to be a part of the Peachtree Road Race..that was in 1999!

  • Mallory

I started running in 2011. It all started when I signed up for Princess 2011, got discouraged, didn’t train, got swept at the 2011 Princess and then realized it really was possible and started training and running. I have completed 4 half marathons since then with many more I hope to do.

  • I started running in 2008 because I wanted Mickey bling!

  • Jane Mayo

    Happy Runniversary!!!!!

  • Congrats on the full 4 years =) My boyfriend’s mom was running and always encouraged us to start, so we finally did!

  • Valerie

Congrats on your runniversary! I started running in the fall of ’09 (at age 58) after retiring from 35 years of teaching high school Social Studies. I ran my first half at age 60 and my first full last year at age 61. All total I’ve completed numerous 5Ks and 10Ks; three 15Ks; 17 half marathons (11 this year) and 3 full marathons (2 this year). Running gives me both a physical and spiritual outlet… Great to find this in my retirement years… Congrats again!!

  • Meredith

I signed up for the 2013 WDW Half Marathon without being a runner, couldn’t even get myself to do any kind of cardio. What a motivator! A year later I’ve done 3 half marathons! I love sparkle skirts! They’re the only things I run in!

  • Mary

Congrats on your running journey. For me running is so many things! It helps me manage the stress in my life and keep me on a healthier path. I’ve suffered from an eating disorder and addiction and there is no better substitute. I absolutely love running and sparkle but also need them in my life.

  • Maryalicia Verdecchia

Congratulations! I started running in January 2005. I was a stay at home mom and felt like I was accomplishing nothing in my life…it was just a constant battle of laundry, dishes, cooking, cleaning, etc and it never, ever ended. Starting running because there was in fact a finish line with that. Here I am almost 9 years later still at it!

  • Gloria Seda

First of all, Congrats on your 4 yr anniversary! About a year and a half ago running had never been in my agenda. A friend approached me to train with her because she wanted to run Disney Princess this year. Long story short, just this year, after joining Galloway, here I am 15 half marathons later, a full marathon, training runs, and all those other runs (anywhere from a 4k, 5k, 10k,15k, etc). I think I can say ‘ I ❤️
