Dopey Challenge Race Report – Half Marathon

Dopey Challenge Race Report – Half Marathon

After 3 nights of early wakeups and late bedtimes, I was so tired the night before that Shawna says I fell asleep mid-paragraph! And hence missed the start time memo. It was a hurried departure and we got slightly stuck behind merging lanes of traffic. But that helped us get a spot closer to the entrance! So all was good.  For the half marathon, we went as Pirates ready to have a jolly good time! The weather turned from hot…

Schedule of Races for the rest of 2014

Schedule of Races for the rest of 2014

2 weeks ago, I did not have a fall race on my schedule. Now, I have a heavy schedule of races for the rest of 2014. And in spite of some life changes including my littlest minion starting Kindergarden, I have goals for every one of these races.  I’ll most probably be carried away and add races to this tweak this slightly, but here is my race schedule as it stands for the rest of the year. July 4th: Peachtree…

Selfie Bandit at Georgia Half Marathon

Selfie Bandit at Georgia Half Marathon

In any race, you can see all sorts of people – different sizes, different hairstyles, different clothes, different pace, … but there was someone entirely different this Sunday – a Selfie Bandit at Georgia Half Marathon. Anyone who reads my race reports knows that I take pictures during a race. Lots of pictures. In fact, I was chastised for that habit right after my first marathon. But selfies now … Even though it is the easiest way to get your mugshot into…

Georgia Publix Half Marathon 2014 – Race Report

Georgia Publix Half Marathon 2014 – Race Report

When a race like the Georgia Publix Half Marathon (2014) that has a reputation of a brutally hilly course can produce a picture like this,  the race report can only be one word (or three) – FUN with FRIENDS! So this race report is more of a picture slide show and less words. If I must say something – tough course but great race, lots of people. I ran with my running buddies and could’ve run 5 more miles after…

Locomotive Half Marathon – A Pretend Training Run

Locomotive Half Marathon – A Pretend Training Run

Plan called for 12/14 and coincided nicely with the Locomotive Half Marathon that was a 10minute drive away from home. The initial course was a nice downhill which they had to change in the last minute. The Thursday prediction for a bright sunny day had given way to thundershowers. So I was very much inclined to skip it. But come race day, weather was much milder than expected. I was already awake and I headed out. The proximity to home…

Georgia Half Marathon – Course and Elevation

Georgia Half Marathon – Course and Elevation

Hills , hills and more hills. A largely pretty course taking me through areas I had never been! More hills. The “biggest” hills (to me) was the one coming out of Piedmont Park, and the one(s) passing through Georgia Tech. The most deceptive hill is the one after Georgia Tech onto Marietta St (the last mile). I couldn’t see the hill, but my legs could feel it. Drove down to the start (MARTA doesn’t run that early on weekends anymore)….

Disney Princess Half Marathon 2011

Disney Princess Half Marathon 2011

The Disney Princess Half Marathon. Me, the anti-princess mom got swallowed by the Disney marketing magic (it was the promise of a Tiara medal that did it for me). The kidlet’s 5th birthday was the same week and I convinced the husband to celebrate it in Disney and I was waiting for this day like a giddy schoolgirl. It started the day before as went to the Wide World of Sports for the Expo.       The expo was…
