Scared … but Excited

Scared … but Excited

Of course, the first thing I did after I got my official race results from the Resolution Run 5k was to plug the numbers into McMillan’s Running Calculator.
The prediction for the longer distances – blows me away! How am I supposed to learn to run 26+ miles at a 12:15 pace!!!!
I reckon that I cannot go out and actually run a 5:20 marathon in New Orleans in March; but its a great goal to aspire for, one that I know is within reach with a bit of hard work. For now, its back to basics I go. To first get that 10k in 1:08 – 1:10 (need to find a 10k in April/May), and then to 13.1 in 2:32 (for a crazy moment, I want to try this in May; but will try to keep it more realistic to aim for by the end of the year); all culminating in a 26.2 time goal next year.
There, that gives me my goal for 2012 and for 2013 too!
