26.2 #2 – New Orleans

26.2 #2 – New Orleans

I had signed up for NOLA a month after Chicago in-spite of my husband’s reluctance. I was running this not to race for a perfect time, but I was running it to prove to myself that I was mentally stronger than my “wall” at 8-12miles at Chicago. Expo and Pre-Race I was still nervous, but gave myself permission to be nervous quietly instead of freaking out ‘OMG, I’m doing a marathon again and what if … !!’ (if that makes any sense)….

Taper Time Madness – 1 Week to New Orleans

Taper Time Madness – 1 Week to New Orleans

I’ve slogged my way through 2 weeks of taper and this last week is getting to me. I’m feeling every little twinge in my legs. I’ve had 2 massages to work kinks out and when I still feel my hamstrings, I am a little more nervous (although my massage therapist assures me that feeling my hamstring means it is not tight). I’ve been germaphobic to the extent that I convinced my 6yo to have her birthday party after I came…

Locomotive Half Marathon – A Pretend Training Run

Locomotive Half Marathon – A Pretend Training Run

Plan called for 12/14 and coincided nicely with the Locomotive Half Marathon that was a 10minute drive away from home. The initial course was a nice downhill which they had to change in the last minute. The Thursday prediction for a bright sunny day had given way to thundershowers. So I was very much inclined to skip it. But come race day, weather was much milder than expected. I was already awake and I headed out. The proximity to home…

Oh Yeah …

Oh Yeah …

I signed up for Chicago Marathon again. I honestly don’t know why I did it. I was not going to. I was going to do something else and not touch Chicago with a long pole until 5 years from now. But tons of people from my running group were going to and I caved into temptation. So, there it is. Chicago Oct 7th, 2012.

Tempted, Very Tempted

Tempted, Very Tempted

The Chicago Marathon opened up for registration yesterday. And I’m tempted. Very tempted to sign up again. Especially now that it is a target race for Get Fit Atlanta. Ah. This is where I wish I would win the lottery, or that I had a super rich grand-uncle somewhere. Stay strong, and remember that I’ll always have a chance to go back and do this one again in 5 years as planned. In the meantime, Marine Corps and Philly awaits!

Rave Run – San Francisco Bay Trail

Rave Run – San Francisco Bay Trail

10 Mile Run in Solitude  Gorgeous, isn’t it?It was absolutely peaceful and ethereal. And a run that gave me confidence that with some proper training, I can get to that 2:32 prediction. I ran the entire distance, most of it with the other solitary runner, at an easy conversational pace of 12:45.

Singing in the Rain

Singing in the Rain

Forecast called for thunderstorms at 12noon. Hoped that started at 7am would let me beat it. Almost …. Rain for the first 3 miles, but got poured on for the last 3 miles. There was too much thunder and lightening and I had to stop 1.15 miles before planned. Megan and I in for some early am miles.  I was torn between deciding a mileage for this run. Finally settled on 15 for sure, anything more depending on the ankle,…
