Why Revel Rockies is one of my favorite half marathons

Why Revel Rockies is one of my favorite half marathons

Last weekend, I ran the Revel Rockies Half Marathon in Colorado. It was picked by our 50 state runners as a pretty downhill course. And realizing that it was just 30-40min from Boulder, I jumped on it as a race + a visit to my sister. The weeks leading to the race were crazy with last weeks of school and work and everything else in between. I couldn’t prepare my long runs as well as I’d hoped to but I…

Cheering for Mom

Cheering for Mom

I believe that my transformation from couch potato to (faux)runner started after my kids were born. Initially, while battling mild post partum depression, I stepped out for “some air” while Mr. FauxRunner would run with the minions in a jogging stroller. Oh, how I hated that walking from my front door to the neighborhood entrance!! But slowly it turned into the quest for bigger bolder things; and when the minions were little, I viewed running as literally running away for…

Stop saying “I could never run that fast”

Stop saying “I could never run that fast”

As a slower runner, I’ve heard (and read on social media) plenty of comments about pace. Not my pace specifically, but any pace that is considered slow; slow being relative. I get aggravated with some, I ignore most of such comments. But this post is about the other side of the running pace conversation – not the fast commenting on the slow, but vice versa. Recently, I was having a conversation with a runner colleague that I’ve become good friends with and…

Joy’s Great Southern Endurance Run 100 Miles

Joy’s Great Southern Endurance Run 100 Miles

Joy, my 5 @ 5 buddy took on an incredible feat of running 100 miles at the Great Southern Endurance Run. Apart from the challenge of the distance, there was extreme heat (it hit 92F on Saturday) and running on concrete with heat radiating off it. She wasn’t able to keep anything down and still kept moving powered by sips of slushies. I don’t have words to describe her feat, except that I am honored she asked me to run…

Publix Georgia Half Marathon with The Kyle Pease Foundation

Publix Georgia Half Marathon with The Kyle Pease Foundation

“The purpose of the Kyle Pease Foundation (KPF) is to create awareness and raise funds to promote success for persons with disabilities by providing assistance to meet their individual needs through sports.” – The Kyle Pease Foundation Like many athletes in the Atlanta area, I was aware of the work that The Kyle Pease Foundation was doing. But other than contributing to their fundraising efforts, I had never been involved personally. Until earlier in January, when Tina messaged me asking…

Charles Harris 10K with The Kyle Pease Foundation

Charles Harris 10K with The Kyle Pease Foundation

I had another opportunity to run with  The Kyle Pease Foundation at the Charles Harris 10k this past weekend. My athlete was Lizzie, who loves going fast! Oh oh, fast and me don’t go along together but we were going to have a grand time!         Charles Harris 10k is advertised as a fast course for the Peachtree Road Race qualifier. And Brent had said that it was an easy course with gentle rolls. And honestly, I’ve been training well and…

February Spotlight – Meet Miss. FauxRunner

February Spotlight – Meet Miss. FauxRunner

Last week was Miss. FauxRunner’s 11th birthday and as all parents do, I reflected back on the girl she had become and all the changes in her this past year. Since one of the biggest leaps she had was as an athlete, I wanted to be proud mom and showcase her. She was tickled when I “interviewed” her and hoped that someday someone famous would interview her!!  2 years ago, Miss. FauxRunner was not a happy runner. She flat out didn’t…
