A Thank You Note

A Thank You Note

As I pickup my race number and everything else, and before I get engulfed in the pre-race bubble, I want to take a minute to look back at the great support I’ve had in this #LonRoadToAugusta. Without the support of people around me, I don’t know how I’d have gotten through the training cycle.  Guru  (That really is his name!) I joke about Mr. FauxTriathlete’s involvement in my training – he rarely knows what I’m upto and hardly ever…

I don’t wanna …

I don’t wanna …

My training peaks for one of the days last week said 2k swim and 45min recovery run. An easy knockout of 2-2.5hrs with my slow swim pace. Plenty of similar days that I’ve done in the past. Except this time, I didn’t want to. I didn’t want to swim or run or do anything. I wanted to sit and idle my time away and maybe do my to-do list and eat a pint of icecream and play some old hindi…

10 Tips for Riding in the Rain

10 Tips for Riding in the Rain

This past Sunday, a small group of us had planned to go down to Augusta to ride the course. It was to be just another training day until the weather changed in hours and chances of rain went from 30% to 80%!! None of us were too thrilled about the rain, but since we had driven down (2.5hrs each way) and since race day weather might throw anything at us, we decided to go ahead with the ride even though…

So you want to use Racing Wheels?

So you want to use Racing Wheels?

Last week All3Sports let me try out some speedy wheels and I feel in love. I want to share what I learnt about wheels and hopefully this will answer questions that other newbies have about race wheels. Why should I get racing wheels? Race wheels or carbon wheels are lighter and more aerodynamic. They also offer a much smoother ride.    I have tried them out on a 25 mile ride and a 50 mile ride, both hilly options. 5…

5 weeks to Ironman 70.3 Augusta – Positive Reinforcement

5 weeks to Ironman 70.3 Augusta – Positive Reinforcement

On Friday, I joined the linkup for “Where do you see yourself in 5 years“? There’s a more imperative and pressing question that I have to face instead. Where do I see myself in 5 WEEKS? 5 WEEKS. How in the world did the timeline shrink to 5 weeks??   Where?  In 5 weeks time, I will be in Augusta, GA.  What? – I will be lined up on the dock, ready to go – either unbearably nervous or unbelievably…

Ironman 70.3 Augusta Training Camp

Ironman 70.3 Augusta Training Camp

The Ironman 70.3 Augusta Tri Coach Georgia Training Camp was one of the most anticipated events in my training calendar. Mr. FauxTriathlete had done it 2 years ago and I knew he’d benefited from it. There is more than one post that I want to write about this weekend (detailed tips and recon on the course, my personal experience on the course this time, other random topics that conversations over the weekend sparked). Why attend a training camp? Why this one? Here…

My First Puncture

My First Puncture

I had another bike “milestone” – a puncture. Or a flat, as it’s known here. A milestone that you never wish to have.       I was unloading my bike to take it to the basement for a trainer ride and noticed it. Luckily, it wasn’t on the way to a ride outside.   I changed the flat and finished up the trainer ride. No issues with that, thanks to help I’ve had from Cannon Cyclery and Westside Bikes, local Atlanta…
