Georgia Half Marathon – Course and Elevation

Georgia Half Marathon – Course and Elevation

Hills , hills and more hills. A largely pretty course taking me through areas I had never been! More hills. The “biggest” hills (to me) was the one coming out of Piedmont Park, and the one(s) passing through Georgia Tech. The most deceptive hill is the one after Georgia Tech onto Marietta St (the last mile). I couldn’t see the hill, but my legs could feel it. Drove down to the start (MARTA doesn’t run that early on weekends anymore)….

Georgia Publix Half Marathon 2012

Georgia Publix Half Marathon 2012

I suppose I really should do a race report before the week is up. As usual, I spent hours trying to figure out my finish time and my pace and my splits and my …. Last year I finished in 3:09:10. My PR during thanksgiving was 2:59:49. McMillan calculator predicted a 2:51 finish (based on my 5k time in the soaking rain at Resolution Run). ING Half Marathon

My First Half Marathon – and I’m hooked!     After a night of tossing and turning, the alarm clock woke me up at 4.30am. Tomorrow, March 21

… will be my first half marathon.I’m super excited and super nervous. Starting from not being able to run half a mile and wimping out at hills to being able to run for over 2 hours. Ideally, I would like to finish around 2:45. But realistically, I will be happy…

My First Run

My First Run

Today, I ran on the roads outside my house. Ran for 3 miles.  The weather was just perfect. The first 10-15 minutes was uncomfortable. The middle 10-15 was tolerable. The last 20 minutes definitely tried to kill me and I had to walk up almost every mountain I encountered. I wanted to give it up and call Guru to pick me up instead, but the baby was sleeping and I didn’t want him to have to bring her out. And so I…

Why Why Why

Why Why Why

After the debacle over my B’day and anniversary, a husband constantly telling me that running was the miraculous cure for my weight-loss plateau and post-partum depression issues, and blown away by a friend who had finished a half marathon; in a fit – of enthusiasm or temper, or both, I have decided that I am going to do a half marathon. But … I hate running. I am not a runner. Heck, I’m not even a walker. Dragging myself to the gym…
