Plan B

Plan B

Thanks to the discount that RnR offered for their races on National Running Day, I now have a plan B. I am now registered for the full marathon at Savannah on Nov 5th. My ‘A’ race of the year is still Chicago on Oct 9th and I’m being cheerfully optimistic that everything will be perfect on race day; but lets face it. Chicago is notorious for its weather. 2 out of the past 5 years have been unbearable heat causing…

Running ego Vs. Chafing

Running ego Vs. Chafing

Hubby when he came back from a 10mile run: “Ow, Ow, Ow !!!”Me: “What? Where?”“There where-it-cannot-be-mentioned. Ow, Ow !!”“Didn’t you use body glide/coconut oil?”“Its these shorts. 6miles in, it shifted and started chafing.”“So – why didn’t you stop and re-adjust?” …. long pause …. “Well?” “There was a lady behind me 5 miles in and she was gaining everytime I slowed down.” “So why didn’t you wait until she passed you?”Hubby *looking like I said something blasphemous*. “It was a lady !! With a…

A flash during a run

A flash during a run

8:30am and I had just entered my neighborhood after a good 7 mile run. Apart from the heat, humidity and hills, I was smiling and lightly humming to the songs jamming on Pandora. And then I saw her. A lady, with a bright green shirt, and her black capris sitting on her butt cheeks with her black bikini/thong in full view !!!!!!! She was bending over her car trunk and I caught a full 10 seconds of flash before she…

‘I love to Run moment’ of the Week

‘I love to Run moment’ of the Week

I had my ‘I love to Run’ moment when I ate to my heart’s content without guilt at the husband’s surprise 40th birthday party on Sunday. Now, that’s why I love to run – so I can eat what I want to (within sensible bounds, of course).

Bucket List of Races

Bucket List of Races

Inspired by Today’s #dailymission over at Dailymile What race would you most want to do, if you didn’t have to worry about any logistics (money, family, work, injury, etc.)? Yes, I have a bucket list of marathon races in-spite of having just one year of running under my belt. And please ignore the slight fact that I have never yet run a marathon.  London Marathon  (Last year, after I saw “Run Fat Boy, Run”, I had a dream that I was pregnant and running London;…

New BFF on Saturday Mornings

New BFF on Saturday Mornings

Finally, after months of wavering, I joined a running group. I’m hoping that Get Fit Atlanta will help me get to the start line at Chicago. I’ve had 3 group runs. I found out that I’m still very very awkward running in a group – especially where everyone is faster than I am. All 3 days, I was the straggler. I’m sometimes embarrassed, when someone slows down to stick with me and sometimes sad, when everyone else is getting valuable advice…

Georgia Half Marathon – Course and Elevation

Georgia Half Marathon – Course and Elevation

Hills , hills and more hills. A largely pretty course taking me through areas I had never been! More hills. The “biggest” hills (to me) was the one coming out of Piedmont Park, and the one(s) passing through Georgia Tech. The most deceptive hill is the one after Georgia Tech onto Marietta St (the last mile). I couldn’t see the hill, but my legs could feel it. Drove down to the start (MARTA doesn’t run that early on weekends anymore)….
