Best Running Decision – Joining Get Fit Atlanta when I signed up for Chicago Marathon. What could be more awesome than training with a group of people who run/coach because they love it!   Biggest Achievement – Chicago Marathon  My first Marathon. Never in my dreams did I think that *I* would be running a marathon. A “what”? A MARATHON! I may have only accomplished plan C, but I had the most fun ever! Best Race Performance – Publix Georgia Half…

Foam Rollling, Lactic Acid and Pointy Headed People

A very interesting discussion that foam rolling and lactate threshold brought up. I’ve highlighted some of the conversation in bold. I love my Get Fit Atlanta group for the wealth of knowledge that they share.  Smitha Barki Tuesday PublicFriendsFriends except acquaintancesOnly meCustomGFA+FitnessPeepsClose friendsSee all lists…Get Fit AtlantaRunning StuffDeals and StealsCAMPAtlantaKV CLRIFamilyIndiansUBDTGeorgia TechKVCLRICampUniversity BDT College of Engineering (UBDTCE)Georgia TechAcquaintancesGo Back Does foam rolling ever get easier/less hurtful? 2nd Running Anniversary

2nd Running Anniversary

Dec 24th, Christmas Eve is a day I don’t think I will ever forget. 2 years ago, as the first training day to the ING Georgia Half Marathon,  I took my first running step. I whined more than I ran. And I started this blog to keep records and not go insane with all that running. What a madhouse 2 years its been. My first year – I completed the 13.1 miles (crying the last 3 miles in pain), I…

The Run to Erase Self-Doubts

The Run to Erase Self-Doubts

After 3 bad long runs (Thanksgiving Half debacle, 12.5 miles on Columns Dr when my hamstrings and hipflexors protested, 12 miles at Buckhead when the hills beat me up mentally), I was long due for a good one. Granted today’s course wasn’t as hilly as last week and it was marvelous to finish up with almost 2 miles of downhill; the run was still wonderful. A run that assures me that I am not crazy to sign up for another marathon 🙂…

Kale and Chickpeas Pasta – Thank you Pinterest

Ever since I became addicted discovered Pinterest, I’ve been pinning a.k.a bookmarking like crazy. I discovered this Whole Wheat Pasta with Chickpeas(!), Kale(…gulp…) and Crushed Red Peppers. I wasn’t sure if this combination of Italian Pasta with Mediterranean Chickpeas would work. You know what – just like the Romans and Mesopotamians had a good trade going on, this dish has something good going on! I didn’t read the recipe right and thought it said red peppers (when it actually said…

Stir Fry – When Friends Inspire

Stir Fry – When Friends Inspire

I took this picture after I was done with more than half the veggies. It was that good! *Confession here* – I’ve never made a stir fry before. My attempt once long ago was with no taste and no intention of repeating the experiment. But it is one easy way to get in a stock chunk of vegetables. So I turned to Becca a.k.a CrafySnatch (my sister in another life) for a stir fry recipe. Viola … a very quick…
