ING Half Marathon

ING Half Marathon

My First Half Marathon – and I’m hooked!     After a night of tossing and turning, the alarm clock woke me up at 4.30am. After quickly cooking breakfast for the girls and nursing Brinda, we waited for Stephanie (our babysitter) to come and we were off. Slight time delay and our train pulled into the station just as we were pulling into the parking lot. So we missed the 6am train. The next train would take us…

Tomorrow, March 21

Tomorrow, March 21

… will be my first half marathon.I’m super excited and super nervous. In spite of being sick for the past 3-4 weeks and not having too many miles after my big 10mile run on Feb 21st, I have trained hard for this. Starting from not being able to run half a mile and wimping out at hills to being able to run for over 2 hours. Ideally, I would like to finish around 2:45. But realistically, I will be happy…

The Day I …

The Day I …

10 miles.Would you believe it?10 f$#@^$%@ miles! Grumpy over the last 2 miles, husband brought out a search party for me since I was gone so long, tired and hungry, but 10 miles !!!! Maybe there is something to running, if I can feel this excited even after a whole day of soreness and passing out from tiredness.

Chattahoochee Challenge 10k

Chattahoochee Challenge 10k

This race was a logical progression for me to lead up to the ING half next month. And very weirdly, this is the first 10k I’ve actually trained to run (Peachtree I just walked with a friend; the Labor Day I just showed up and went). It was great weather and a very pretty route along the river, flat except for one hill at 5 miles. I ran the whole thing in 1hrs 24min @ 13:32 pace and I felt…

Assailed by Self Doubts

Assailed by Self Doubts

I’ve been feeling pretty good about myself, my goals and my efforts these days. But when I start to compare or look around, I get assailed by doubts. After the high I had from finishing my hilly labor day 10k, I signed up for the ING half-marathon in March. I shy away from running. I hate it. But I have been sticking to it and following a training program religiously out of respect for the distance (13.1miles = 21km). I’m…

My First Run

My First Run

Today, I ran on the roads outside my house. Ran for 3 miles.  The weather was just perfect. The first 10-15 minutes was uncomfortable. The middle 10-15 was tolerable. The last 20 minutes definitely tried to kill me and I had to walk up almost every mountain I encountered. I wanted to give it up and call Guru to pick me up instead, but the baby was sleeping and I didn’t want him to have to bring her out. And so I…
