My first running injury – Patella Tendinitis

My first running injury – Patella Tendinitis

10 days ago, I ran the Teardrop Half Marathon and had a huge PR and finally got to one of my goals of running sub 2:30 in a half marathon. I went out for an easy recovery run on Sunday and some yoga on Monday and my usual easy run on Tuesday. About 30 minutes into my one hour run, I felt a twinge in my right knee. I walked some and run again. Twinge again. Walk some more and run some more. That definitely was a pain and not a twinge anymore,

I don’t run through pain and I run to whoever I know can help me at the first sign of pain, and so I made an appointment with my sports chiropractor. They’ve always help my body recover and put together when I’m breaking down.

It was really hard for me to stay away from Dr. Google for the next couple of days. But even without Dr. Google I instinctively knew that this pain was not like any other I had felt before.I knew that this had some underlying causes and was brought out by the downhill running at teardrop half marathon. While I certainly enjoyed the 2000 feet drop in just 7 miles, my body did not.

Short enough – tendinitis.

Patella Tendinitis

Suspected Cost-quads not being strong enough to take on the downhill and hence my knees taking a lot more impact than they usually do, a lot a lot more.

Having suspected that this could very well be an ID cost even quads not being strong enough to take on the downhill and hence my knees taking a lot more impact than they usually do, a lot a lot more.

Having suspected that this could very well be and ITBS Or tendinitis, my emotions were more impulsive than one off shock or sadness. I did have a awesome SHINee PR to show for it, so I couldn’t be mad for too long either.

As I start rehabbing and hopefully get back into running in a couple of weeks, I will be reading up a lot more on tendinitis. The next 2 to 3 weeks will also did you Mann if my summer marathon, Raven Mount Hood is actually going to happen. On learning of the official diagnosis, my first reaction was to withdraw from the race. I did not even want to be anywhere near Oregon and wanted to cancel the whole thing. My doc and my coach she talked me into waiting for a little bit before I make that decision.

All I know is that if I am not “race ready” , I don’t want to do the race at all. This was my A race and my number one reason for traveling up to Oregon to race.
