The Quest for a Running Skort – FAIL

The Quest for a Running Skort – FAIL

Why not look cute while running? That’s what I thought. And fell in love with girls running with skorts (skirts with compression shorts). Since they were pricey at $60+ online, I went to the outlet malls hoping to get one for half the price. Store #1 – Nope. Not even worth browsing. They had only “athletic training” section which did not have any tech material. Came out in 5 minutes. Store #2 – Running section. Good. Capris and singlets. Even…

A Goal as I approach my mid-30 mark

A Goal as I approach my mid-30 mark

As the husband turned 40, I realized that I have a mid-30 number coming up in September. What can I do to make this midway point memorable? So I did what almost every girl resolves to do for her birthday (or wedding or anniversary) – lose weight! Well, not exactly. I don’t care about scale numbers anymore, so I want to lose dress sizes. I am currently an 8/10 (down from 14/16 of last year) and I want to get…

Three Things Thursday – Food again

Three Things Thursday – Food again

It was ironic that the day I blogged about my relationship with food was the day that Dailymile had a #dailymission question – what is the most important thing you do nutrition-wise that helps your training? And I realized – I don’t have an answer. A flash during a run

A flash during a run

8:30am and I had just entered my neighborhood after a good 7 mile run. Apart from the heat, humidity and hills, I was smiling and lightly humming to the songs jamming on Pandora. And then I saw her. A lady, with a bright green shirt, and her black capris sitting on her butt cheeks with her black bikini/thong in full view !!!!!!! She was bending over her car trunk and I caught a full 10 seconds of flash before she…

My relationship with food

My relationship with food

A sampler of the range of variety in Indian food Like most people, I have a weird relationship with food. In Indian culture, (very much like the Greeks as portrayed in ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’) the solution to every problem or every non-problem is to eat or drink coffee/tea. Unless a child eats a portion that is two tsp less than an adult portion, the kid is considered a “picky eater”. As a plump kid, but with that kind…

‘I love to Run moment’ of the Week

‘I love to Run moment’ of the Week

I had my ‘I love to Run’ moment when I ate to my heart’s content without guilt at the husband’s surprise 40th birthday party on Sunday. Now, that’s why I love to run – so I can eat what I want to (within sensible bounds, of course).

Summary Total Mileage = 15 miles Long Run = 7 miles No cross training, but got my runs in Daily Splits M – 2 miles easy with a pounding sinus headache. More walking than running, but got them legs moving. Quick upper body + core while DD(5) was at her swim lesson. T – 4 miles of Congested 800 speed intervals. 5 x 0.5 miles @ 5.1×2/5.2×2/5.5 (11:47/11:36/10:51) with 0.10miles of walk in between. Felt tough due to congestion and cough. W…
