Our First Multisport Race – A Duathlon

Our First Multisport Race – A Duathlon

Hubby is on his road to Augusta 70.3! Apart from my Callaway Sprint 2 years ago, this duathlon was our his first multisport race and he did pretty good. He started on the bike only about 6-8 weeks ago and has gotten quite comfortable in clipless pedals. Cheering was hard work though! He got to nap in the afternoon while I have to be up with the kids 🙂 We got there a tad late, so we couldn’t catch him running…

#4 Little Rock Marathon

#4 Little Rock Marathon

“If you want to win something, run the 100 meters. If you want to experience something, run a marathon.”  – Emil Zatopek, Gold medal in 5k, 10k and the Marathon at Helsinki Olympics I chose to run Little Rock Marathon for the promise of a huge medal. In spite of a chilly 22F start at 6am, I started nice and slow and my race strategy ‘Start Slow and Back Off’ (thanks to One More Mile) paid off. The race was…

To Philly or Not to Philly: That is the Question.

To Philly or Not to Philly: That is the Question.

I’ve been yo-yo-ing about Philadelphia Marathon since I got back from Chicago. I was going to take a week/10days off and decide. Its been 3 weeks and I can’t still 100% decide.Lots of talks with people, I was 98% close to backing off. Then some pep talk and decided this week to go for it. Unfortunately, I ran 3 times and I could feel the tightness and twinges in my hamstring everytime, plunging me in doubt again. My philosophy – when…

Chicago Marathon – The " What If " Marathon

Chicago Marathon – The " What If " Marathon

So … where do I start the race report for Chicago Marathon 2012? The injury scares in the beginning of the season, gingerly putting my feet back in and following a slightly modified long run schedule, then getting into the full swing of things and busting to train to this time goal I had in mind, excited and nervous and more excited and then … The week before the marathon – was I getting sick or was it nerves? A…

Dear Race Director of Area 13.1

Dear Race Director of Area 13.1

Dear Race Director of Area 13.1, What a brilliant idea it was to have an alien themed half marathon at night in Roswell! Roswell, Georgia. A cool concept that about 15+ runners from my running group embraced and signed up, even though warning bells were very insistent about the heat and humidity of Atlanta in mid-August. Humid-er than humid summer runs did not deter our enthusiasm for the run and messages on facebook made some of us painfully aware of…

A Crazy Running Adventure Day

A Crazy Running Adventure Day

This crazy adventure (crazy by my mortal standards) started just 2-3 weeks back when the Vinings Downhill 5k date was announced. August 18th. The same day as the Alien Half that a big bunch (almost all?) my running buddies had signed up for. So perhaps I should backtrack my onset of crazyness when I signed up for the Alien Half. 6:30pm, August, Atlanta humidity, Aliens. Definitely NOT my cup of tea, especially since I’ve had a deathly fear of UFOs…
