Peachtree Road Race 2012 – Where I just Chilled

Peachtree Road Race 2012 – Where I just Chilled

Peachtree Road Race 10k. An annual Atlanta tradition. 60,000 people. Entry by lottery only. With all the recent developments, I didn’t run it. Its not my favorite race anyway. The logistics to get to the race and back is a big PITA and takes more time than actually running it, not to mention the soaring temperatures of July 4th. I went over to the finish with friends and watched others run, although I will confess that I did have a…

Locomotive Half Marathon – A Pretend Training Run

Locomotive Half Marathon – A Pretend Training Run

Plan called for 12/14 and coincided nicely with the Locomotive Half Marathon that was a 10minute drive away from home. The initial course was a nice downhill which they had to change in the last minute. The Thursday prediction for a bright sunny day had given way to thundershowers. So I was very much inclined to skip it. But come race day, weather was much milder than expected. I was already awake and I headed out. The proximity to home…

Thanksgiving Half Marathon 2011

Thanksgiving Half Marathon 2011

I like my food guilt-free and 13.1 miles is the best way to earn that food! A week before the race I had a trail run disaster and sprained my ankle. I was given clearance to run on thanksgiving, but not the practice runs. I was a little wary of going in with only one 12 mile run (almost a month ago), but I’ve done 13+ miles about 10 times in the past 6 months. And so it should…

Rock n Roll Savannah Marathon

Rock n Roll Savannah Marathon

(He’s going to be totally mad at me for posting his pictures in public domain, but I’m just so proud of him!)   We drove down from Atlanta, and went straight to packet pickup. The traffic into the expo (which was on an island with just ONE road) was a mess! Good thing we left Atlanta at 9am and not at 12noon as we had originally planned!     Race Day! I wrote his name on the Shirt and outfitted…

Atlanta Marathon Relay

Atlanta Marathon Relay

What more fun than to run 26.2 miles, except you are not actually running it all ! We had 4 teams (that I knew of) from Get Fit who signed up for the relay (4 people with legs of 5.5, 8.4, 5.1, 7.2 – Although the legs didn’t really measure right(!)). It was so much fun, especially waiting in the end to cheer in Edna, one of our yellow peeps who did an amazing first marathon in one of the…

D Day – Owning Chicago 26.2

D Day – Owning Chicago 26.2

There it was – the day of the Marathon. The day that I had been anticipating since February!! I’d prepped everything before hand the previous night, including taping my name to the front and taping ‘26.2 Virgin’ on the back. Lorraine and I were staying 2 blocks from each other and we decided to meet at the bus stop for a cab/bus, whatever came first. We got onto a bus at about 6:30 and  were at the designated meeting spot…

1 Day to Chicago – The Expo

1 Day to Chicago – The Expo

Went over to the expo to pick up my race number. Seeing the crowd of people was emotional, to say the least.  Overheard a lot of first timers’ conversations.  Lots of emotions running through my head as I wound my way through the expo.
